I thought you might like to know where I go to get ideas from, where I find infos for my job or my hobbies, what I am interested in (remember I am not responsible for the sites and contents) I have categorised my links and I hope it will make it easier to see what there is. If you have links you think will fit in with the general feel of my site, then mail them to me. Please notify any broken links.
I have a lot of links here. Before you go off looking at them, make sure you bookmark my site - - because once you have started surfing away you will, after a few sites, no longer find back here. Bookmarking the Word-Painter will help you come back easily. And if you liked what I have offered so far you might want to come back in a month or so to see the changes I have made to the images and/or writings.

Search Engines:
About
- About is a bit like a web ring but there are "guides" who specialise in the topic you are interested in; you often get a long list of sites based on your search topic. I find it informative and varied. The one below gives some english-language search engins with their logos. Some I have never used before as I live in Europe. 16 search engins on one page
Ask Jeeves
- Ask Jeeves, he's a knowledgeable butler as far as web sites and subjects are concerned. On the other hand, you can ask a well-informed Mamma ;-)http://www.mamma.com
And now for KIDS !!!
- Not only a list with search engins for kids and a description what might be found there, but also possibility for kids to search on well-known engins. A good idea. Below there is a nice search engin for people searching things in and about Canada. Lots of names I don't know, that means I have a few hours ahead to look around. Just have to think of something I'd like to know... native american, towns, regions, and also French language ones. Canadian search engin list
on which TOPIC do you need a specialist German search engine?
- Having done something for French and English speakers and learners, here is something for people wanting to look around German sites in the original language. It is a list of all search engines which specialise in a subject. Type in your subject, you get a list of the engins carrying info, you just go and look what is listed. And now a german search engin to help KINDER do their research (=kids...)german language search engin for kids/
Search for topics in the Sciences (english)
- If you want to get info about a science subject, this is a good site. I'm a frequent visitor here on the health, psychology, social science pages. If you are looking for sites that treat a special subject, you might find them in a web ring. All sites about the same subject get together, have links between each other, you just type in your topic of interest and get a list of all rings connected to the topic (with number of individual sites who have joined). This can end up as serious surfing !the home page of WEBRING

Sites in the Art Heals groupI am interested in understanding the mind, reducing stress, helping people to feel good about themselves. It's part of my job, it seems in my temperament. This group of sites deals with this aspect in a way that I feel happy with, and can relate to as an artist, an educator, a care worker, a human being in harmony with myself and my world, someone who lives with and respects Mother Nature. Sometimes I need some specific information on how the brain is affected by circumstances, so I can research into how we can help. I am finding this site useful   Brain function
